Angel Rutledge
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Angel Rutledge is a seasoned organizational leader who has spent her career building mission-driven teams, advising entrepreneurs, and strengthening communities through practical, Gospel-centered leadership. Today, she brings this wide-ranging experience to her role as Chief Operating Officer of Freedom Communities, where she guides organizational strategy, operational excellence, and team development to advance the flourishing of families in Charlotte.
Angel began her career in education before transitioning into global ministry work focused on community advancement in West Africa. In 2011, she joined her husband as a co-founder of SignUpGenius. She served as COO, where she helped grow the company from a two-person startup into a nationally recognized platform serving over 100 million people annually. In 2017, they sold a majority stake of the bootstrapped business to private equity.
Since stepping away, Angel has advised business founders and nonprofit leaders on strategic growth, healthy organizational cultures, and faith-driven entrepreneurship, as well as serving on multiple boards. Most recently, she served as Director of Spiritual Integration with HOPE International.
A summa cum laude graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in Theological Studies and an emphasis on global leadership, Angel has lived in Charlotte with her family for over 20 years. She is passionate about investing in her community and contributing to a city where every family has the opportunity to thrive and grow.
